Still Sick

Last weekend we went to visit Kev's brother's family for cousin B's birthday (expect a post on that next). I was going to post about it and Wyatt's 6-month-old celebration this past Monday, but Wyatt decided he needed to run a fever instead. Now, I probably wouldn't have been too concerned because it was just 100.7, but he had been on antibiotic for his sinus infection for several days and hadn't had a fever up until this point. So needless to say, we went to the doctor and I was very worried because the nurse didn't even ask the doctor; she just said to come right in.
On the bright side, we finally got to see Dr. B! (This is a big deal if you know that Dr. B has been unable to work because of complications from knee surgery since before Wyatt was born.) She checked him out and heard a little rattling/wheezing in his chest and said that it's RSV. I used to think that those were the scariest set of letters known to momkind until recently when I learned that not all cases end up in the hospital. So Dr. B gave him a new antibiotic (which doesn't taste as good) and albuterol for the coughing/wheezing.
Fast forward through the week of a pitiful sounding baby that just makes me want to cry when he coughs. We are so blessed to have such a happy-go-lucky baby who just laughs and smiles even when he doesn't feel good. I don't know how I would have made it through this if he were crying and pitiful the whole time. Wyatt is definitely doing better. I think his fever is finally gone today (**knock on wood) and he is coughing less. He is still super-congested and has a stuffy nose, but I know some of it is just going to be sinus/allergy junkiness.

Now for some pictures from today. Wyatt has recently developed a love for the remote control. I know--he's not wearing any clothes, but he prefers to be this way and he had just messed up his outfit!
I will eat you now!
I see it and I will have it!

I will follow you until I faceplant into the couch!

Look at my foot!

**Stay tuned for pictures from cousin B's birthday, Wyatt's 6-month-oldness, and snow!! :)

Sick Again

It seems that SuperWy has inherited my sinuses. He's been congested for a while, but yesterday morning he woke up with a persistent cough. He coughed for several minutes until I got the booger-sucker and sucked out what he was trying to cough up. Then he woke up coughing several times last night. So I called the doctor this morning and took him in. It turns out that he has his first, probably not his last, sinus infection. I feel so bad for him, but he's just so happy. Every time he coughs or sneezes he just smiles and coos. He's just so darn precious! Anyways, we got some antibiotics so hopefully he'll be all better soon!
**His weight today was 21 lbs. 5 oz.
On a different note, we're getting closer to rolling over on his own. He just can't seem to put his arm in the right position. We're working on it though!

Wyatt's new feet...I mean feat?

Wyatt has finally discovered his feet! I wish I had a picture of it, because he is just about as happy as can be when he's holding his feet, but I don't. So I guess you, my readers, will just have to settle for these other fabulous pictures of my precious little man!
Here we go!

Is there anything sweeter than Daddy reading to baby?

I love my monkey rug!

Where's Wyatt?

There he is!

This one's for Noni: she gave him these overalls for Christmas and he just looks so darn cute in them (if I do say so myself)!

Daddy's Turn

I told Kevin it was his turn to feed Wyatt on Saturday since he isn't home during the week. He was a little apprehensive, but he did it anyways. Let me just say that the pictures do not do justice to the mess they made together!

Wyatt didn't seem to mind his daddy feeding him! He enjoyed it pretty well I think!

Rice Cereal...yummm!

We started Wyatt on rice cereal this week. We decided to just try it out because he has become increasingly interested in watching us eat and wanting to chew on our foods. I wanted Kevin to be there for the first time and he was off on Monday, so it worked out perfectly. The first night, he slept went 11 hours. However, it must have just been a fluke because he hasn't slept that well since then.
Here are some pictures!

Taking a bite. (This wasn't the first bite because Kev video taped the first few minutes and then took pictures.)

Thinking about it.

Watching me.

"Can you put it in my mouth faster please?!"

I think he liked the overall experience!

The New Year So Far...

So it's been a couple weeks since I've posted. Not much out of the ordinary has been going on though. Kevin went back to the toe doctor a couple weeks ago and they cleared him saying that his toe has healed. Unfortunately, after 2 weeks off, going back to standing and moving around all day has proved to be painful. So that's the toe status.
Wyatt continues to get bigger and more fun by the day. He is amazing, as usual. Unpredictable, but amazing! He's even started growing more hair on the top of his head!
And now, picture time!
More Christmas pictures from Nana's camera that I just had to share!

One of my besties came by to finally see him! She teaches in SC and is super-involved with band so she hasn't been able to come visit since he was born.

Happy New Year!

Daddy's Little All-Star!

He just looks like a little man in this outfit!

He's finally able to enjoy his exersaucer!

Christmas '09 part III

After the Christmas Eve service, we drove to Atlanta to stay with my sister. She and her husband had been wanting to do Christmas at their house since they were having it built last year. (They moved in sometime around March?) It was a ton of fun, but pretty hectic trying to do stuff around the schedules of two babies. So here we go.
I was bummed that present time was not at the top of everyone's list first thing in the morning because that's the time when Wyatt is the most fun. Therefore, Kevin and I went ahead and let him have his Santa present (the one he opens with his gifts from Santa, but it's from us). If you don't understand, it's okay. It's kind of a family joke.
He loves it! It says his name, sings songs, and plays music that we choose.

Wyatt got a jumperoo. We put him in it and he liked the toys. Then he started kicking his legs like he always does and started moving. It didn't take much longer for him to actually start jumping. He is an accomplished jumper!
All tuckered out, snuggling with Daddy!
Emerson has started smiling! She looks like a little elf! She's so precious! I have to admit that I didn't take enough pictures of her. The little bit of time I was able to spend with her (because I either had Wyatt or one of my parents had her), I spent it holding and cuddling her.

Our little family!

It took several shots to get this picture. That includes the one where I set the timer, got in the picture, and as soon as the timer went off, the picture took as I stepped on Kevin's broken toe. Needless to say, his face was not a happy one!

Aren't they precious!

Christmas '09 part II

**Disclaimer--I went overboard with pictures, but it's Wyatt's first Christmas so I felt entitled!
Part II starts at Nana and JJ's house for Christmas Eve brunch. Kev's brother's family comes along with cousin B's other grandmother GeGe. We've done this since our first Christmas together (I think) and it's been fun. Last year was when we announced that we were pregnant and this year that little blessing was here for some fun.
We were a little late because we had to make sure we had everything for the trip to Atlanta later that night. Wyatt fell asleep in the car and slept while we ate. Then he woke up and was very playful with Nana and cousin B.

Wyatt's first Christmas stocking!

Nana showing Wyatt his stocking stuffers!

All of ours and Wyatt's presents.
Wyatt was attempting a nap, but he just couldn't stand not seeing what was going on. I think he was trying to figure out if this is really where he wanted to be!
Wyatt likes this elephant that giggles!
Admiring his new Georgia jacket!

Alas, he finally gave up after seeing all of his presents.

For some reason, I thought his pants would be harder for him to pull off of his head!
This is cousin B showing us his gift from Truett Cathy.

Later that night, we went to Christmas Eve service with Kevin's parents. Wyatt was so good. I wish we had gotten a picture of the three of us. Oh well, maybe next year!

Christmas '09 part I

We had a lot going on over Christmas break and a few celebrations. So hold on tight as I post our fun times a little late!
First, we had our friends and their kids come over for dinner. We wanted to get together back in October, but one of us always had something going on. Better late than never! So I cooked and they came over and gave Wyatt his second Christmas present (his 1st was his exersaucer that we got him a couple months ago).

What do I do with this?

This is cool! (It's a ball that rolls on its own and makes music.)

We also gave Z (my fabulous flower girl) her birthday present. We did it a little early since we weren't invited to her all-girl slumber party!

Off the Charts!

Wyatt had his 4 month check-up today and he is of the charts in all areas! Here's the break-down:

height: 28 inches
weight: 19 lbs. 13 oz.
head: 18 inches

The paper from the doctor says above 97th percentile in each category and the chart shows that he is clearly above and beyond the rest. As someone said yesterday when they saw him for the first time: He is a healthy boy!

Conductor Kev

As I said in the last post, Kevin was getting dressed up as the conductor from The Polar Express. From what I heard, he was a hit. The kids were all so excited and wanted a ticket for him to punch. I told him he had to stay dressed up until I could get there to see him and he sure did look the part.

Wyatt didn't seem to mind the strange man holding him either!

And 10 points goes to Melissa for finishing the song! Yay for John Denver and the Muppets!

What's coming?

Tomorrow is the last day of school/work for Kevin. Yay! And, since the kids are getting out early, they're going to be watching The Polar Express, having their Christmas parties, eating lunch early, and leaving at 11. I wish we'd had some days like that when I was there. So for the festivities, Kevin (being the only male teacher there) has been chosen to dress as the conductor (from the movie) to make sure all of the kids have their tickets. It should be fun and I hope to get a few pictures of him all dressed up!
We are also hoping to get the truck back soon, which will be good because that means Kevin won't have drive a clutch with his broken toe/foot and I won't be without my car when he drives it instead of his. Of course with him being done with work for a few weeks, it's not really an issue any more. Oh well. We go back to the doctor Friday so we're hoping for some good news!
Wyatt continues to be fabulous! He's laughing now and I have some really precious video footage to prove it. As soon as I can find the cord, I'll get it up here for your viewing pleasure!
Oh yeah! Christmas is coming! (the goose is getting fat) 10 points to the person who can finish the song! I know my dad knows it!

Today

Today is a day of celebrating. One year ago today, Kevin and I spent the day in shock, awe, disbelief, and a whole heap of other emotions that would take a while to list. It was our 6 month anniversary and we were getting ready to go to church (it was a Sunday). We weren't going to make it for early church so Kevin suggested we start decorating the tree. I said that would be fine and said, "Or we could go get a pregnancy test?" His jaw just dropped. We had been trying to get pregnant and I was a couple days late.
Well, we drove to Walgreens and Kev waited in the car while I went in and bought 2 different types of tests. We went back home and I took a test. About 30 seconds after I set it down, it was already reading positive. Kevin asked me what it said and I told him it just hadn't been long enough so we waited another couple minutes. It was still positive, but the one line was lighter than the other. I was obviously not able to take another test at that time so we had no choice but to go to church. Needless to say, we weren't able to focus on the sermon at all that morning.
We went out for lunch for our anniversary and then went home to take another test. It too turned up positive and we spent the rest of the day going through all of those crazy, exciting emotions.
We decided to wait until Christmas to tell our families and it was a brutal 2 weeks. However, when the day finally came, it was the best thing in the world.
8 months later, we had our precious baby boy and life has been forever changed for the better!
Also, Wyatt is 4 months old today! Yay!

Updates

We went to the orthopedic doctor on Friday. They were running an hour and a half behind schedule so while Kevin waited, I went to the baby superstore down the road. It was fun and I didn't even buy anything. I went back to the doctor when Kevin called me so I could be there when the doctor actually saw him. They confirmed that his toe (the big knuckle in his foot) is broken. They said that he shouldn't need surgery so that's a very good thing. Then they wrapped it up (not in a cast, but it has to stay on) and said to stay off it as much as possible. They gave him a shoe to wear and they want to recheck it in 2 weeks to make sure that it's healing properly.

Now about the truck. Kevin spent a lot of time on the phone with a guy he knows that does stuff with cars and such. They are working on an affordable way to save the truck. We still don't know for sure what's going to happen, but it's all in God's hands. I will try to be brave if things don't work out, but I'm really hoping and praying for the best!

Murphy's Law

Every hear that saying, "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong."? Well, it seems like it is!
I know...things could be so much worse, and I'm still counting my blessings. However, I thought Kev's broken toe was enough for now. But alas, I was wrong.
Wednesday morning, about 30 minutes before it would've been time for Wyatt to wake up to eat, my phone rang and woke me up (luckily it was only on vibrate). It was Kevin. The truck broke down as he was getting off the interstate. So I threw on some clothes, woke the baby (I didn't mean to, but luckily he was okay with it), and went off to rescue my hubby. He called AAA (so glad we have it now) and we had to wait an hour for the tow truck to get there.
Then I took him to work. This was kind of a plus because I got to show off Wyatt to all his co-workers and my students that I taught last year. I love to show off my little man. He was so good getting passed around from stranger to stranger. No, none of the children were allowed to touch him (we're super cautious about school germs with the flu/H1N1 going around). Then we came home where I promptly gave Wyatt a bath.
So back to the truck. The place called Kevin and told him that the truck was not firing(?) on any cylinders and that it was going to cost X amount of money to take apart whatever to see how bad it was. Thursday they called to say that the truck needs a new engine. This is very sad to me because this was my first vehicle. I learned to drive in it and it's been in my life for 10 years. It's got a lot of memories and sentimental value. Unfortunately, that seems to be the only value it has.
So now we have a decision to make. Do we spend money to fix it, or do we let it go? This is very hard for me and I've said that I am not able to make the unbiased decision since I'm so attached. Please pray for us to discern from God what the wisest decision would be for our family. We don't really want to lose the truck, but even more than that, we don't want to make the wrong choice.

Who needs a big toe?

Apparently not old people! At least that's what the doctor told Kev when he to see about his broken toe.
Let me back up--Kevin hit his toe on the door/doorway (we think). It all happened so fast. All I know is that he was suddenly he was in severe pain, laying on the bed with his feet in the air. He said he hit it on the floor, but we think he must have hit the door first. This was Sunday night.
Monday morning he went to work and apparently it looked pretty bad because he had the nurse check it out. She told him to watch the bruising. If it moves from the toe to the foot, then it could be a broken foot.
Today the nurse told him to see a doctor. Well he just got home from the doctor and showed me his toe. The bruising has definitely moved past the toe. It looks awful. He has a prescription for a support boot. I never knew they prescribed those! Next step is a visit to an orthopedic doctor.
As for the old people comment, the doctor told Kevin that if he were old that they wouldn't even bother. Apparently old people might not need full range of motion in their feet? Who knew?
