Off the Charts!

Wyatt had his 4 month check-up today and he is of the charts in all areas! Here's the break-down:

height: 28 inches
weight: 19 lbs. 13 oz.
head: 18 inches

The paper from the doctor says above 97th percentile in each category and the chart shows that he is clearly above and beyond the rest. As someone said yesterday when they saw him for the first time: He is a healthy boy!

Conductor Kev

As I said in the last post, Kevin was getting dressed up as the conductor from The Polar Express. From what I heard, he was a hit. The kids were all so excited and wanted a ticket for him to punch. I told him he had to stay dressed up until I could get there to see him and he sure did look the part.

Wyatt didn't seem to mind the strange man holding him either!

And 10 points goes to Melissa for finishing the song! Yay for John Denver and the Muppets!

What's coming?

Tomorrow is the last day of school/work for Kevin. Yay! And, since the kids are getting out early, they're going to be watching The Polar Express, having their Christmas parties, eating lunch early, and leaving at 11. I wish we'd had some days like that when I was there. So for the festivities, Kevin (being the only male teacher there) has been chosen to dress as the conductor (from the movie) to make sure all of the kids have their tickets. It should be fun and I hope to get a few pictures of him all dressed up!
We are also hoping to get the truck back soon, which will be good because that means Kevin won't have drive a clutch with his broken toe/foot and I won't be without my car when he drives it instead of his. Of course with him being done with work for a few weeks, it's not really an issue any more. Oh well. We go back to the doctor Friday so we're hoping for some good news!
Wyatt continues to be fabulous! He's laughing now and I have some really precious video footage to prove it. As soon as I can find the cord, I'll get it up here for your viewing pleasure!
Oh yeah! Christmas is coming! (the goose is getting fat) 10 points to the person who can finish the song! I know my dad knows it!

Today

Today is a day of celebrating. One year ago today, Kevin and I spent the day in shock, awe, disbelief, and a whole heap of other emotions that would take a while to list. It was our 6 month anniversary and we were getting ready to go to church (it was a Sunday). We weren't going to make it for early church so Kevin suggested we start decorating the tree. I said that would be fine and said, "Or we could go get a pregnancy test?" His jaw just dropped. We had been trying to get pregnant and I was a couple days late.
Well, we drove to Walgreens and Kev waited in the car while I went in and bought 2 different types of tests. We went back home and I took a test. About 30 seconds after I set it down, it was already reading positive. Kevin asked me what it said and I told him it just hadn't been long enough so we waited another couple minutes. It was still positive, but the one line was lighter than the other. I was obviously not able to take another test at that time so we had no choice but to go to church. Needless to say, we weren't able to focus on the sermon at all that morning.
We went out for lunch for our anniversary and then went home to take another test. It too turned up positive and we spent the rest of the day going through all of those crazy, exciting emotions.
We decided to wait until Christmas to tell our families and it was a brutal 2 weeks. However, when the day finally came, it was the best thing in the world.
8 months later, we had our precious baby boy and life has been forever changed for the better!
Also, Wyatt is 4 months old today! Yay!

Updates

We went to the orthopedic doctor on Friday. They were running an hour and a half behind schedule so while Kevin waited, I went to the baby superstore down the road. It was fun and I didn't even buy anything. I went back to the doctor when Kevin called me so I could be there when the doctor actually saw him. They confirmed that his toe (the big knuckle in his foot) is broken. They said that he shouldn't need surgery so that's a very good thing. Then they wrapped it up (not in a cast, but it has to stay on) and said to stay off it as much as possible. They gave him a shoe to wear and they want to recheck it in 2 weeks to make sure that it's healing properly.

Now about the truck. Kevin spent a lot of time on the phone with a guy he knows that does stuff with cars and such. They are working on an affordable way to save the truck. We still don't know for sure what's going to happen, but it's all in God's hands. I will try to be brave if things don't work out, but I'm really hoping and praying for the best!

Murphy's Law

Every hear that saying, "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong."? Well, it seems like it is!
I know...things could be so much worse, and I'm still counting my blessings. However, I thought Kev's broken toe was enough for now. But alas, I was wrong.
Wednesday morning, about 30 minutes before it would've been time for Wyatt to wake up to eat, my phone rang and woke me up (luckily it was only on vibrate). It was Kevin. The truck broke down as he was getting off the interstate. So I threw on some clothes, woke the baby (I didn't mean to, but luckily he was okay with it), and went off to rescue my hubby. He called AAA (so glad we have it now) and we had to wait an hour for the tow truck to get there.
Then I took him to work. This was kind of a plus because I got to show off Wyatt to all his co-workers and my students that I taught last year. I love to show off my little man. He was so good getting passed around from stranger to stranger. No, none of the children were allowed to touch him (we're super cautious about school germs with the flu/H1N1 going around). Then we came home where I promptly gave Wyatt a bath.
So back to the truck. The place called Kevin and told him that the truck was not firing(?) on any cylinders and that it was going to cost X amount of money to take apart whatever to see how bad it was. Thursday they called to say that the truck needs a new engine. This is very sad to me because this was my first vehicle. I learned to drive in it and it's been in my life for 10 years. It's got a lot of memories and sentimental value. Unfortunately, that seems to be the only value it has.
So now we have a decision to make. Do we spend money to fix it, or do we let it go? This is very hard for me and I've said that I am not able to make the unbiased decision since I'm so attached. Please pray for us to discern from God what the wisest decision would be for our family. We don't really want to lose the truck, but even more than that, we don't want to make the wrong choice.

Who needs a big toe?

Apparently not old people! At least that's what the doctor told Kev when he to see about his broken toe.
Let me back up--Kevin hit his toe on the door/doorway (we think). It all happened so fast. All I know is that he was suddenly he was in severe pain, laying on the bed with his feet in the air. He said he hit it on the floor, but we think he must have hit the door first. This was Sunday night.
Monday morning he went to work and apparently it looked pretty bad because he had the nurse check it out. She told him to watch the bruising. If it moves from the toe to the foot, then it could be a broken foot.
Today the nurse told him to see a doctor. Well he just got home from the doctor and showed me his toe. The bruising has definitely moved past the toe. It looks awful. He has a prescription for a support boot. I never knew they prescribed those! Next step is a visit to an orthopedic doctor.
As for the old people comment, the doctor told Kevin that if he were old that they wouldn't even bother. Apparently old people might not need full range of motion in their feet? Who knew?
